Summary:
The Operating Room/Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse, acting with his/her generic and continuing education and experience, systematically assesses health status on individuals and records the related health data. He/she analyzes and interprets this data to make informed judgments as to the nursing diagnosis and plan of nursing care. The RN provides and coordinates health teaching required by patients and families. He/she evaluates outcomes of nursing interventions and initiates changes in the plan of care when appropriate. The RN collaborates, communicates, and cooperates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care. The RN is fully accountable for the quality of nursing care he/she delivers and for the appropriate delegation of care to other providers. The RN may be assigned to be the nurse in charge of the Operating Room/Ambulatory Care for designated period of time. He/she may care for patients ranging in age from pediatric to geriatric.
Qualifications:
Ability to read, speak and write English. Ability to talk and hear for discussion with patients and co-workers. Ability to stand and walk for several hours. Ability to lift >100 pounds with assistance.
Required:
Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts. For intraoperative role, 1 year prior operating room experience required. Ability to scrub and circulate orthopedic and general surgery procedures. ACLS and critical care experience required. Ability to function as Recovery Nurse preferred.
