General Manager

Phillips-Medisize LLC is seeking a General Manager to Lead the operations for one or more manufacturing facilities in a market segment, including profit and loss responsibility. Shares direct responsibility for the overall success of the business, including the impact on overall corporate goals and objectives.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Manufacturing/Operations

    • Leadership at a higher level providing unified professional direction to Plant Managers and Engineering Managers

    • Collaborate in preparing business plans for each facility and making capital spending recommendations, including technology capability considerations

    • Assure facilities produce product at planned costs and initiate plans to reduce costs relating to waste, variance, management labor, direct and indirect costs

    • Identify and/or modify existing processes or systems which restrict capacities or result in the inability to reach corporate goals

    • Forecast capital for system improvements, replacement or modification

    • Provide objectives specifically to support competitive manufacturing operating costs

    • Capacity planning and understanding of the customer programs (new and existing, etc) and status to ensure compliance to schedule short and long term launch projects

    • Manage CDPE (Customer Driven Pursuit of Excellence) at all locations


  • Corporate Citizenship

    • Create agendas that align with the overall goals of the company and address related responsibilities

    • Work closely with sales directors to ensure customer satisfaction, accurate pricing and sales initiatives

    • Work with corporate initiatives in a supporting or leading role, e.g. quality, safety, training, accounting, information technology, human resources, facilities, and the Technology Center

    • Ensure that rules and regulations are handled consistently and equitably within the facilities


  • Leadership

    • Provide direction to Plant Managers and Engineering Managers to assist in the attainment of corporate and facility goals

    • Identify, develop and reward the talent and expertise of manufacturing staff, by supporting sound processes for staff selection and development, pay administration, coaching and mentoring

    • Facilitate employee collaboration to create a successful team

    • Drive change with the ability to influence in all directions

    • Effectively communicate across facilities, and with external stakeholders

    • Promote and demonstrate community involvement and support, balancing this activity with business needs



Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities include:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or associated discipline; or equivalent leadership experience

  • Significant P & L ownership and successful management in a manufacturing environment

  • Significant experience managing and leading people

  • Significant experience in lean manufacturing

  • Leadership virtues include integrity, treating others with respect, building trust and developing staff to create value

  • Clear and concise communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation, negotiation and holding others accountable

  • Applying good judgment in decision making, perspective, and problem solving

  • Catalyst for change

  • Knowledge of injection molding, plastics materials and associated processes

  • Ability to establish systems and processes

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
